Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer RTW 2011
Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer RTW 2011
The Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2011 range designed by Marc Jacobs seemed to be a mix of elements from the 20's and 70's. The colour palette used consisted mostly of bright jewel colours and was paired back with muted earthy tones. Fabrics used ranged from stretch knits, leather, satin, a metallic lace, jersey, an extremely shiny fabric that wasn't lame and possibly some chiffon.
The silhouettes of the garments appeared to be inspired by the 20's and 70's with lowered waist/hip lines appearing, fringing from the 20's and 70's, collars inspired by the 70's nehru jackets and mandarin collars and coats inspired by the 70's shift dress look.
"It's Shiny" as quoted by Marc Jacobs himself pretty much describes the texture and colours perfectly with glittering jewel tones highlighting the sheen of the fabrics, whilst muted earthy tones were used to pair back the "shiny". Texture came in the form of sequinned belts, glittering fringing and extra texture was created from the use of knits and laces.
The use of line was consistent with bold outlines appearing on dresses and different coloured bindings on tops.
The collection also featured alot of animal prints in bright colours.
Overall, I liked this collection because of the use of colours which I feel made outfits 'pop' without being too much with the glitter. I really like the crisp clean lines used throughout the collection which seemed to also keep colours tied together and also the fringing used to create shapes and textural detail on the dress.

Good Advice.
Today my Dad suddenly turned to me and said, "Jess, why can't you just get a job at Quarantine? Just work there until you have a huge superannuation, and you will be able to see the world."

Travelling the world is my grandest dream.
So, I think I might just do that.
BUT, i'm still going to finish this course first and see where it goes.
